Long operated by the explorer Dubai Zarara Oil & Gas, the onshore blocks M-10, Sofala and Zambezi in Mozambique’s Gulf of Zambezi, may be acquired by another junior, Bang & Clovis E&P. In the early 2000s, Zarara sold its stakes in the three concessions to South Africa’s Sasol, which quickly handed them back to the government. Last month, Maputo awarded them to state-owned Empresa National de Hidrocarbonetos de Mocambique (ENH). The latter is negotiating their sale to Bang & Clovis.
