Daviz Simango - Giving them real choice.
The Mayor of Beira has been shaking up the establishment with his fledgling Movimento Democrático de Moçambique(MDM), founded in 2009.
The 48-year-old mayor, elected to his post in 2003, has spent his career troubling the ruling Frente de Libertação de Moçambique, which has been quite happy facing the Resistência Nacional Moçambicana, a party irrelevant outside of the north.
President Armando Guebuza now has to contend with an effective alternative
in the MDM.
