MOZAMIMQUE’S former rebel group Renamo’s threats of civil war that have forced some of that country nationals, including children to flee into the country’s border district of Mwanza, has culminated into a security score with reports from the district indicating that even aimed criminals are crossing the border’s into the country and are terrorizing some villages.
A source from the district indicates that 15 suspected Mozambican armed criminals crossed into one of the border villages in the area of Sub Traditional Authority Govati where they threatened people three days ago
"They crossed into Chinlango Village at night and threatened people with the intention of confiscating livestock and food. The people in the Village mobilized themselves against the bandits forcing them to run away.”, said the source.
The source could not, however, ascertain whether the bandits belonged to Mozambique’s Frelimo or Renamo.
Mwanza Police officials referred the matter to Muanza District Commissioner Gift.
